Seniors on the Move is one of four Collective Impact projects in Metro Vancouver under Allies in Aging. Seniors on the Move works to improve, innovate and increase transportation options for seniors in order to reduce social isolation. This three year project has been funded by the Government of Canada through the New Horizons for Seniors program. Find the official press release here.
The goals of Seniors on the Move are:
Helping seniors plan for age-related changes to their transportation needs and connect them to the appropriate transportation options;
Building upon the transportation services that are working well in communities;
Testing new modes of sustainable transportation services that advance innovative partnerships; and
Sharing learnings with other transportation providers and decision-makers to promote systemic change.
We are excited to work with on this project with partners and stakeholders around Metro Vancouver, including Burnaby Community Services, City of Burnaby, Collingwood Neighbourhood House, the United Way, Silver Harbour Seniors Centre, Share Family and Community Services, the Bus Co-op, MVT Canada, Fraser and Vancouver Coastal Health, ICBC, TransLink, Vancity, and Modo the Car Co-op.
TransLink has also generously provided support for Seniors on the Move transit training program.
